Kasey Dunton, Legal Associate

thumb_dunton_kaseyKasey Dunton is a Staff Attorney at GAP, where he advises whistleblowers about their legal rights, represents clients in filing complaints with OSHA and the Office of Special Counsel, and litigates prohibited personnel practices.

Kasey began work at GAP in 2007 as a student in the UDC Legal Clinic and served primarily in the Legislative Program, conducting research and drafting whistleblower protection language for laws such as the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) and the 2008 amendments to the DC Whistleblower Protection Act, as well as work on the Whistleblower Protection Enhancement Act (WPEA). Upon graduation from law school and admission to the Maryland Bar, Kasey's duties expanded to include litigation of cases before the Merit Systems Protection Board and other administrative bodies. Most recently, he represented George Sarris before the Department of Defense Department of Hearings and Appeals to seek reinstatement of Sarris's security clearance. Kasey also represents Franz Gayl.

Kasey received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the George Washington University in 2005, and his J.D. in 2008 from the University of the District of Columbia (UDC) – David A. Clarke School of Law (when he was 22 years old). In addition to his work at GAP, he has worked in the United States Senate, served as Legislative Director for Washington DC "Shadow Senator" Paul Strauss, and was an attorney in the UDC Legal Clinic focusing on family law issues for District residents with HIV/AIDS. He is admitted to practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia.
