The New York Times: Assange to Host Conversations on TV Show

WikiLeaks editor Julian Assange is slated to host a talk show beginning in March on the RT Network. The program, set for 10 episodes that run 30 minutes apiece, will focus on conversations with “key political players, thinkers and revolutionaries from around the world," according to a WikiLeaks news release.

Baltimore Sun: Shipowner, Operator Fined $1.85 Million in Pollution Case

A federal court has fined the owners and operators of the M/V Aquarosa, a large freighter, nearly $2 million for illegally dumping "oily waste and garbage" into the ocean. The investigation was sparked by a whistleblowing crewman/engineer on the ship, who supplied authorities with copies of the ship's logs and hundreds of cell phone pictures of the wrongful activities. The whistleblower now stands to receive a significant percentage of the fine.


Monsanto Shareholders Vote Against GE Crop Study

Monsanto shareholders defeated a proposal to study the financial risks and impacts of the biotech corporation's genetically engineered crops at its annual meeting on Tuesday. The proposal was submitted by a socially responsible investment advisory firm and minority shareholder, which Monsanto attempted to lock out of the meeting.

An anonymous whistleblower has created a video alleging wrongdoing by a "prominent Japanese scientist," and posted it to YouTube. The video alleges that the scientist "duplicated and manipulated images" in scientific papers.


Is a Meatpacking Plant Dumping Pig Blood into a River?

An investigation is underway concerning a pig slaughterhouse in Dallas that allegedly dumped pig blood into a nearby river. Officials weren't aware of the problem until they received a tip from a photographer who had been taking aerial photos of the river when he noticed it was a dark red color.
