Government Accountability Project’s Director of Education & Senior Counsel, Dana Gold, is speaking on the panel Legal Protection for Scientists: Overcoming Real and Perceived Barriers at the American Association for the Advancement of Science 2019 Annual Meeting. Her segment of the panel, Scientists as Whistleblowers: Legal Rights, Risks and Options, will be the first of three and will go from 10-10:30am.

Synopsis: Science professionals who speak out about censorship, environmental dangers, and threats to public health and safety—whistleblowers—can prevent harm and drive evidence-based policy making by exercising scientific integrity. In a climate hostile to science and transparency and that actively chills employee speech, this session will inform scientists about their legal rights to protect the public interest by disclosing evidence of serious abuses they witness in the workplace.

Where: Marriot Wardman Park – Washington, D.C.

When: Saturday February 16th
