Government Accountability Project Clients Receive Pillar Awards

Today, Government Accountability Project clients Dr. Robert Kroutil and Erez Reuveni were awarded Pillar Awards from the 2025 Whistleblower Summit & Film Festival. The Pillar is awarded to politicians, community activists, and journalists (including documentary filmmakers) who are “notable civil and human rights champions.”

Uncovered EPA Letter Reveals EPA Negligence in Allowing Flawed Norfolk Southern Testing in East Palestine

An Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) letter recently obtained by Government Accountability Project through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) exposes EPA’s changes to Norfolk Southern’s dioxin soil sampling plan in East Palestine, Ohio concealed the scope of dioxin contamination after the February 2023 Norfolk Southern train derailment and unnecessary open burn of vinyl chloride railcars.

Congress Releases Evidence Supporting Whistleblower Disclosure As Part of DOJ Oversight Efforts

Following the June 24, 2025, whistleblower disclosure by Erez Reuveni, former Acting Deputy Director for the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Office of Immigration Litigation, Senate Judiciary Committee Democrats, led by Ranking Member Senator Dick Durbin, launched a formal investigation into allegations that DOJ leadership—under Principal Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove—encouraged defiance of court orders, misled the judiciary, and attempted to suppress internal dissent to advance the President’s immigration removal priorities. 

DOJ Whistleblower Erez Reuveni Exposes High-Level Defiance of Court Orders and Retaliation

Today, Government Accountability Project and Gilbert Employment Law, P.C. submitted a protected whistleblower disclosure on behalf of Erez Reuveni, former Acting Deputy Director of the Department of Justice (DOJ)’s Office of Immigration Litigation (OIL). The disclosure, submitted to Congress, the DOJ Office of Inspector General, and the U.S. Office of Special Counsel, details grave allegations of misconduct, abuse of authority, and unlawful retaliation by senior DOJ and White House officials.

EPA OIG Report Validates Key Claims by East Palestine Whistleblower, While Leaving Critical Allegations Unresolved

Today, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Office of Inspector General (OIG) released its report on its investigation into the Airborne Spectral Photometric Environmental Collection Technology (ASPECT) missions, policies, procedures, and quality assurance. On July 17, 2024, EPA opened its initial investigation into the ASPECT flight mission over East Palestine, Ohio, following the toxic derailment in February 2023 and whistleblower disclosure from former ASPECT data quality manager and creator of the ASPECT software, Dr. Robert Kroutil.

Honoring National Whistleblower Day 2025

National Whistleblower Day, commemorated annually on July 30, marks the anniversary of the first U.S. whistleblower law passed by the Continental Congress in 1778, which declared it the duty of every citizen to report misconduct. The day honors the bravery of individuals who expose wrongdoing within organizations, often at great personal and professional risk, and serves as a vital reminder of the need to protect and support whistleblowers across the public and private sectors.

What You Need to Know About VOA

On March 14, an executive order was signed to eliminate the parent agency of VOA, the U.S. Agency for Global Media (USAGM) and relieve 1,300 journalists and workers of their duties. The executive order cited VOA’s “anti-Trump,” “radical” coverage by supposed “terrorist sympathizer” journalists as the reason for the defunding and closure.
