Deputy Director of Rural Partnerships
As Deputy Director of Rural Partnerships, Sally’s work strengthens FIC’s connections with farmers, impacted communities and rural grassroots organizations. She draws on her background as a farmer organizer to help FIC investigate critical issues in agriculture and support whistleblowers standing up for fairness and justice in our food system. Prior to joining FIC in 2020, Sally worked with contract livestock producers across the southeast to advocate for farmers rights in contracts with big agribusiness. She has also worked at the international level, developing indicators for social justice in food and agriculture businesses. Consistent in her career is her commitment to fairness and a belief that better solutions in agriculture are possible. Sally holds a Masters in International Rural Development and Agricultural Economics from the University of Gent in Belgium, and a certificate in Agricultural Business Management from NC State University. She graduated with Honors from UNC Chapel Hill with a degree in Anthropology.
