The 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Cartooning has been awarded to “Mark Fiore, self syndicated, for his online animated cartoons appearing on SFGate.com, the San Francisco Chronicle Web site, where his biting wit, extensive research and ability to distill complex issues set a high standard for an emerging form of commentary.” Check out this ‘Science-gate’ animation with his take on denialist Climategate claims.

Mark Fiore is the first cartoonist to win a Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Cartooning for what was entirely an entry of online animations.

He also has been awarded a Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award and an Online Journalism Award from the Online News Association and the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism.

He reported that he received death threats, apparently from Tea Party extremists, for his cartoon ‘Learn to speak Tea Bag’
