Associated Press: Report on Whistleblower is Inconclusive

The Department of Energy (DOE) Inspector General announced yesterday that it could not provide an opinion on the case of GAP client Donna Busche, who was terminated after raising safety concerns at the Hanford nuclear waste treatment plant. The DOE said Hanford contractors Bechtel and URS withheld thousands of documents needed by the IG to complete its investigation.

Busche expressed her concern with the contractors’ cover-up of critical documents: “This is exactly what we expected from URS and Bechtel. These contractors have sent a clear message to any potential whistleblower at the Hanford complex: no one, including DOE, is more powerful than we are.”
