Yesterday GAP Legal Director Tom Devine presented Senator Daniel Akaka (D-Hawaii) with GAP’s Public Servant Award for his “marathon stamina earning rights for whistleblowers” who expose waste, fraud and malfeasance. Senator Akaka has long been an ally in GAP’s mission of protecting whistleblowers.

Recently, Senator Akaka was part of a bipartisan group of Senators who reintroduced the Whistleblower Protection Enhancement Act (WPEA) in Congress after it was narrowly killed in the last session. “We must empower whistleblowers to uncover waste, fraud and abuse,” Akaka said in a statement.

GAP is proud to honor this whistleblower champion of the Senate!
