Pulitzer Prize and Polk Award-winning journalist Glenn Greenwald has authored a new book, No Place to Hide, in which he details the amazing story of working with NSA whistleblower and GAP client Edward Snowden. This column, an excerpt from the book, recalls the chaotic days after the initial NSA story was published by The Guardian last June, details how Snowden was able to avoid being located in Hong Kong, and provides Greenwald’s opinion on subsequent media coverage of his stories. No Place to Hide is available tomorrow.


CBS Sports: Willingham Will Not be Witness at Senate Hearings on Athlete Welfare

Mary Willingham, the whistleblower from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill who exposed that school’s “paper-class” and problematic revenue-sport student-athlete literacy levels, was informed late last week that she will not give testimony to a Senate committee this coming Wednesday. Willingham was contacted earlier about participating in a panel that will look at the welfare of collegiate athletes. Despite being removed from the witness list, Willingham plans to attend as an observer.

Fresno Bee: Capitol Alert – California Senate to Consider Whistleblower Protection for Staff

Later this month, the California Senate will consider changes to its rules that would provide whistleblower protections for senate staffers. The proposal comes after multiple senators have been “rocked … by criminal charges against three of its members.” Staffers would enjoy protections “when reporting suspected wrongdoing by senators or other employees.”
