Government Accountability Project welcomes undergraduate, graduate, and law students to work with us as interns, volunteers, or externs for credit throughout the year. Join our team and make a difference in a wide variety of issue areas, from helping pass legislation protecting whistleblowers to engaging with important case work.

Fellowships

Getulio P. Carvalho Fellowship

In 2014, Government Accountability Project established the Getulio P. Carvalho Fellowship to fund a research project focused on whistleblowing and international issues. Dr. Carvalho, a board member since 2013, has a distinguished record of academic research, writing, and public service on inter-American affairs. He endowed the fellowship to support the international program at Government Accountability Project, which protects and defends whistleblowers in intergovernmental organizations and multinational corporations. Summer Harvard Mindich Fellowship

Government Accountability Project has worked with the Harvard Mindich Service Fellowship to provide students the chance to explore public service work for 10 weeks during the summer. Harvard students are paired with Government Accountability Project and have contributed substantially to our work. Eligible Harvard College students are encouraged to apply, and more information is available on the Harvard College website.

Harvard Winternship

Government Accountability Project has hosted Harvard College students as part of the Harvard winter session program. Winterns intern at Government Accountability Project during the month of January, gaining legal and non-profit experience during an intensive internship. Brigham Young University Washington Seminar Program

Government Accountability Project has worked with the Brigham Young University (BYU) Washington Seminar program to provide students the opportunity to explore public service and legal careers for 10 weeks during the summer. BYU students are paired with Government Accountability Project staff members and have contributed valuable work to our programs. Eligible BYU students are encouraged to apply, and more information is available on the BYU website.

Service Corps Programs

Government Accountability Project also maintains relationships with multiple service corps, including the Mennonite Voluntary Service and the Lutheran Volunteer Corps. Each year, service corps members at Government Accountability Project contribute substantially to the organization as communications, events, and education associates and intern program coordinator. Check with your service corps to see if you’re eligible to work for Government Accountability Project during your service year.

Government Accountability Project runs a long-standing whistleblower protection clinic at the University of the District of Columbia (UDC) David A. Clarke School of Law.
