Professor Hans Von Puppet from Turtle Bay University has surfaced again in a third Youtube appearance. His latest tutorial discusses the culture of cover-up at the higher echelons of the UN system, and the particular incident that has upset him is the way in which the Organization handled allegations of child sex abuse by peacekeepers in the Central African Republic (CAR). UN human rights official Anders Kompass reported the crimes to French law enforcement, and as a result, he was initially suspended and is now under investigation.
Professor Von Puppet is especially critical of UN Spokesperson Stephane Dujarric’s claim that most people familiar with the episode agree with UN officialdom, which has condemned Kompass for going to the police. In fact, however, Professor Von Puppet argues most people are baffled by UN claims that reporting crimes to the police endangers the victims.
For his part, Professor Von Puppet questions the accuracy of Dujarric’s belief that universal opinion supports impunity for pedophiles.
He compares the UN’s interpretation of events and everyone else’s – and he finds them quite different.
· The UN believes that the only wrongdoer here is Anders Kompass, but everyone else thinks Mr. Kompass deserves a Nobel Prize;
· The UN claims Mr. Kompass put the lives of the children at risk, but everyone else thinks he helped protect them from sexual predators.
· The UN sees Mr. Kompass as guilty of misconduct for reporting the crimes to the police. Everyone else is puzzled, trying to think of something else Mr. Kompass could have done.
The Professor does not say in his video, but wrote in his note to GAP that UN officials do not want the public to consider:
· The UN did nothing to protect these children.
· The UN did nothing to report the matter to the government(s) that might have done something to stop the abuse.
· The UN did nothing to assist the French when they tried to investigate the report. On the contrary, the UN delayed the investigation process.
· The UN conspired, at the highest level, to use its oversight office to investigate Mr. Kompass, after the senior officials responsible for institutional integrity secretly agreed that he was
guilty of breaking the rules of the UN by reporting crimes to the police.
