In a November 17 hearing, the Subcommittee on Energy and Environment of the House Science and Technology Subcommittee will hold a “rational discussion of climate change.”  Witnesses include prominent climate scientists, a U.S. Navy Rear Admiral in charge of addressing the national security implications of climate change for the Navy, and Dr. Ralph J. Cicerone, the President of the National Academy of Sciences.  The Republican witness, Dr. Judith Curry, is a climatologist known for criticizing the IPCC and the climate science community in the wake of the ‘Climategate’ e-mail hack.  The Subcommittee ranking member Rep. Bob Inglis (R-S.C.) has come under fire as one of the few Republicans in Congress willing to stress the importance of tackling climate change, and has said that his position was a major factor in his primary loss to a Tea Party candidate in June.  Keep reading for hearing details and witness list.
