Voice of America Whistleblower Describes Truth-Telling in The Trump Era in New Podcast

“The Whistleblowers: Inside the Trump Administration” offers an insider’s view of whistleblowing in the Trump Administration

WASHINGTON – Today, Voice of America (VOA) whistleblower Grant Turner and his colleagues describe the toxic work environment under President Trump-appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Michael Pack on iHeartRadio’s newest podcast The Whistleblowers: Inside the Trump Administration. This podcast is hosted and narrated by former chief of staff of the Department of Homeland Security and whistleblower, Miles Taylor, and highlights the individual stories of whistleblowers and the vulnerability that accompanies telling the truth.

As the Chief Financial Officer of Voice of America, Grant Turner noticed the misspending of agency funds. He repeatedly brought his concern to Trump-appointed Chief Executive Officer, Michael Pack. As a result, Grant was fired. He was one of several Voice of America employees who faced retaliation for expressing concerns about the abuses committed by the United States Agency for Global Media’s then CEO. However, the misspending was just a small part of Pack’s abuses at USAGM. Turner and other whistleblowers exposed how the CEO attempted to subvert the democratic mission of the agency and routinely violated regulations by interfering in the politicization of the news source. Pack used the network to spread disinformation instead of the unbiased information broadcasted around the world.

Government Accountability Project’s David Seide, and the attorney for Mr. Turner and the several Voice of America whistleblowers, commented:

“Grant Turner and his colleagues are dedicated with over a century of combined experience. Political appointees retaliated against them just for doing their job. That is wrong and against federal whistleblower laws.”

Hear Grant’s story and the undemocratic abuses committed at USAGM and the eventual whistleblower victories by listening to “The Whistleblowers: Inside the Trump Administration” now.
