Nihal Sri Ameresekere spoke with Bea Edwards, GAP’s Executive Director, about corruption in the privatization programs in Sri Lanka, through which valuable State assets were sold to private investors.

Using public interest litigation, Mr. Ameresekere presented to the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka the fraudulent arrangements various government officials allowed as they passed public resources into private hands. Over time, Mr. Ameresekere was able to convince the Court to annul many of these corrupt agreements.
